Been awhile...update from the Sheahan's
It’s been a while since my last update.
Here’s a few reason’s why:
- A major computer crash: I lost every bit of current data, contacts, addresses, financial records etc. BUT not to worry: I back things up almost daily. BUT little did I know that my backups were not really backing up… L That hurt. Even now I can’t get everything working correctly like the ‘backup system’
- Sickness: Shaun has been down for about a week. Flu that turned into a major antibiotic resident sinus infection:
- Prom: as fun as it is, sending two of our Teens to a Prom is a major undertaking. Check my Facebook for photos – Jeremy and Mariah, Brandon and Kaory, and Bubba and Jordon had fun and looked great.
- Travel: Shaun has had to be out of town a lot.
- Maria has been in Mexico almost daily.
Here are some things we have been doing:
Shaun (and Maria):
- Continuing to Mentor young men: David, Matt and John to be specific, in following Jesus. This is so fun because these guys so know they are loved by Jesus and they freely love him back.
- Visiting the Home for Boys…watching David lead these trips and bring other in. The boys are really cool too despite the great need.
- Teaching and Speaking to 8th graders about: “Jesus place in their lives and their place in HIStory”. What a theme. I have had so much fun watching these young lives grab on to the Jesus they never knew that it does not feel like work at all.
- Making various trips into Mexico to help set up projects with our community in Mexico. Things are so much richer when done in community.
- Helping our own wonderful teens prepare for their future. Both Kaory and Jeremy graduate from high school in June. Jeremy has applied for an internship with InnerChange, an outreach to the poor, which is part of CRM. If he gets accepted he will spend several months in a township (ghetto) of Johannesburg, South Africa. That’s a long way from home.
- Kaory has applied to a 1 semester bible/worship school in Kansas City, Kansas…for her that will be a long way from home too.
- Every four years CRM gathers all it’s missionaries (400 plus) from around the world to have a conference… a time to feed their missionaries, get acquainted refreshed and equipped for more Kingdom adventures. Four years ago it was in Santa Barbra, CA. Four years later, which is this summer, it’s in Malaysia. Thankfully CRM is helping us get there. It should be an amazing time.
Maria:
- Maria is in Mexico almost daily. One day it’s with Lily, another in Porvenir and others with Elva, Titi, Rosa or the Mission in Terrazas.
- She also Mentors amazing young women in NieuCommunities too: Amy, Pamela and Brittney.
- She holds down a crazy household of teens too.
In our next updates I will break some of this down to bite sized pieces but that’s the OVERVIEW.
Thanks,
Shaun, Maria, Jeremy, Kaory and Josh Sheahan
